Kerala mural painting courses

Chitrasopanam Art Foundation aims to carry on teaching, using traditional methods of sketching based on Epics, Puranas, and Dhyanaslokas. We have been able to impart this knowledge to students spread far and wide through meticulously planned syllabus using technology. We begin with the bare basics to cater to students who have no prior knowledge. Praveshika (Foundation), Naipunya (Specialization), Acharya I and Acharya II (Advanced) are the four levels of our two-year course. All the courses are offered in both online and offline modes.

PRAVESHIKA

Praveshika is the initial course for beginners where basic anatomy and traditional measurement practices are taught. The syllabus includes basic Alankaaras, ornaments, Ayudha's and other fundamental principles of Kerala mural painting.

Eligibility: 


  • Basic Drawing Experience


Online Duration: Three months

Offline Duration: 20 days (Full day)

NAIPUNYA

Naipunya is a second level in-depth course which includes postures, bhangas, compositions for male and female deities using different tala-pramanas.


Eligibility:


  • Students have to complete Praveshika
  • Students have to complete creating one painting.


Online Duration: Six months

Offline Duration: 30 days (Full day).

ACHARYA I

Acharya I is a master-level course which includes advanced postures, bhangas, and compositions based on traditional Indian texts and Tantric philosophy following advanced iconography.


Eligibility: 


  • Students have to complete Naipunya
  • Students have to complete creating three paintings including one composition.


Online Duration: Eight months

Offline Duration: 50 days (Full day).

Acharya II is the second master-level course which includes advanced techniques for creating compositions based on traditional Indian texts and Tantric philosophy following advanced iconography.


Eligibility: 


  • Students have to complete Acharya I
  • Students need to have completed creating five paintings including two compositions.


Online Duration: Eight months

Offline Duration: 50 days (Full day).

NATURAL COLOURS COURSE

This course focusses on an in-depth knowledge in the preparation of natural pigments, surface preparation and application using traditional techniques to create a Kerala mural painting.


Eligibility: 


  • Students have to complete Naipunya
  • Students have to complete three paintings.


This course is offered only offline

Duration: 60 days (Full days/ Intensive format).
