About Sasi Edaravad
Sasi Edavarad is a Kerala mural artist who hails from Perambra, a small town in Kozhikode district of Kerala, India. He resides there with his wife and two daughters. He has many temple and public art projects to his credit.
After completing his basic formal education, he joined Universal Arts School of Fine Arts, Kozhikode. During his stint there, the Indian murals had a huge influence on him. On the advice of one of his mentors, he enrolled himself to the Guruvayur Institute of Mural Painting in 1996. He studied under Guru 'Master-Artist" M.K.Srinivasan. He began to study these paintings closely to understand their nuances. To further his knowledge of this unique art form he embarked on a mission of visiting many temples, palaces and sites of ancient mural paintings.
With the sole purpose of furthering this authentic legacy, Sasi Edavarad began teaching Kerala mural painting in the year 2005. This was just the beginning of a 25-year career that continues to shine globally as Sasi Edavarad masterfully teaches, publishes, conducts workshops, mentors research students and teaches courses in art colleges, commissions small and large scale art works on various media including synthetic and natural colours, commercial and private art installations including community projects as well as raises art awareness in schools and colleges to the next generation.
